Opening of Mushroom Cultivation Training to support local livelihood development

In order to assist the sustainable socio-economic and livelihood development of the local community, and with the aim that the local community understands the value of the protected area and biodiversity and participates more in the conservation work, the Tanintharyi Nature Reserve Project (TNRP) conducted a two-day training course on Mushroom Cultivation Training for Local Livelihood Development. The training was held from December 4 to December 5, 2025, at the Environmental Education Center (EEC) in the Myichaung Hlaung sub-station.

A total of 20 trainees from villages within the project area—namely Yaypone, Myikyaung Hlaung (Ywathit), Myikyaung Hlaung (Ywahlaung), Innbya, and Zin Ba attended the course. Mushroom cultivation expert U Win Zaw Latt provided both theoretical and practical lessons on Oyster Mushroom cultivation. The trainees also visited U Win Zaw Latt's Mushroom farm in Myikyaung Hlaung (Ywathit) village for an on-site study.

Following the training, the project provided attendees with the necessary supplies to start their own small-scale mushroom cultivation businesses, including sawdust, mushroom bags, a pressure cooker, mushroom spawn, and other essential equipment.
